Inhabiting the grounds of the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo are numerous species of fish, birds and reptiles, as well as larger animals such as deer and zebra. Commemorating those who sacrificed their lives in the Six Day War (1967), this moving memorial attracts many Israeli, as well as Jordanian families, who lost close ones in the battle. A compact museum at the Ammunition Hill Memorial gives details on the fight to capture Jordanian-held land to provide passage from Jerusalem to the Hebrew University while authentic trenches used by soldiers in the conflict can still be seen.
