The plethora of galleries of Jerusalem offer much more than just Israeli art works and are both numerous and recommended. One of the best of Jerusalem's art galleries is the Mardigian Museum of Armenian Art and Culture, which is to be found within the city's historical Armenian Quarter, where it celebrates the rich heritage of this important community.

As well as displaying Armanian art works within its gallery spaces, visitors to Mardigian Museum of Armenian Art and Culture will also discover various ceramics and religious relics collected from Jerusalem and beyond, together with some very historic books and posters. Souvenirs can be purchased at the onsite gift shop.

Lying on the western side of Jerusalem and known for its ever-changing displays, the Artist's House features a total of five different exhibition rooms, where all kinds of local Israeli artists come to showcase their latest paintings, sculptures, designs and photographs. The building itself is especially impressive and boasts a rather Arabesque-style facade, while inside, you will also find both a cafe and shop selling many art works.

Managed by the Jerusalem Italian Jews Association (JIJA), the U. Nahon Museum of Italian Jewish Art was established in 1981, in an attempt to preserve various objects and art works relating to Jewish life in Italy, both from the past and present. Around 40,000 people now visit this museum each year, enjoying its glorious Conegliano Veneto Synagogue and acclaimed concerts.

Sited in the historical Old City's Christian Quarter of Jerusalem, the Gallery Anadiel really does warrant a visit, particularly in modern art is your thing. Opened since the early part of the 1990s, many famous international artists have graced the walls of the Anadiel over the years and continue to do so. Both Israeli and Palestinian also often showcase their offerings here.

An excellent contemporary Israeli gallery with numerous pieces by noteworthy Zionist artists, the Mayanot Gallery offers an extensive permanent collection. Many of the paintings tend to be of a religious nature, depicting some of the better known biblical scenes. Various paintings and prints are also for sale at a range of affordable prices.
